According to studies, women who wear high heeled shoes most of the time are more prone to leg cramps, leg strain and varicose veins. There’s another study that came out a few months back that will give women good reason for wearing high heeled shoes once in a while.
According to Dr. Maria Cerruto, an Italian Urologist, wearing high heels may improve women’s pelvic floor muscles. In her study, which was composed of 66 women not older than 49 years old, women who held their foot at a 15 degree angle to the ground which is about 2 inch high; exhibits good posture compared to those who wear flats. This also crucially showed less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles. It suggests that the muscles were at an optimum position to improve its strength and the ability to contract.
This muscle weakens after pregnancy and child birth and as women grow older. Kegel Exercise is another way to improve the pelvic floor muscle but the doctor hopes that the conclusion can help others like me who finds it difficult to do the exercise.
